Melbourne Airport to Preston Travel Information
Preston is about 20 km by road from Melbourne Airport. Most transfers follow the Tullamarine Freeway (M2) towards the city, leaving it at Bell Street for the run east through Coburg into Preston, depending on traffic. The last few minutes depend on where you are going, such as Preston Market and the station, High Street, Northland on Murray Road or the streets towards Darebin Creek.
Typical Travel Time
Allow about 25 minutes in normal traffic. Weekday peak hours can add 15 minutes or more.
Busy Traffic Periods
Traffic on Bell Street and around Northland is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings. The level crossings at Bell Street, Cramer Street, Murray Road and Oakover Road were removed in 2022, so trains no longer hold up traffic, and your chauffeur checks live traffic and adjusts the route.
