Melbourne Airport to Kensington Travel Information
Kensington is about 20 km by road from Melbourne Airport. Most transfers follow the Tullamarine Freeway (M2) and CityLink towards the city, then reach Kensington via Racecourse Road or Macaulay Road. The last few minutes depend on where you are going, such as the village around the station, Kensington Banks by the river or the streets near Flemington Racecourse.
Typical Travel Time
Allow about 20 minutes in normal traffic. Weekday peak hours can add 15 minutes or more.
Busy Traffic Periods
Traffic on the Tullamarine Freeway and CityLink is heaviest on weekday mornings and evenings. Race days at Flemington, especially the Melbourne Cup, and big events at the nearby Showgrounds bring heavy traffic, so your chauffeur checks live traffic and adjusts the route.
